History

A very important and frequently asked question is, why do we study history? Its not like we can change it by reading it a certain number of times, nor can we change the impact it has made. A popular answer to the question is that we learn from it. No wonder we have stopped fighting for power so that our country doesn't fall to pieces like the Mughal Empire. What exactly do we learn from the way mankind turned from apes to humans? Are we preparing for the time when humans turn back to apes so that we can change ourselves back to our human selves?
We will only learn from history when we want to or when we have an interest in the subject. Why then are ten year old children forced to learn about Galileo or Alexander The Great when it does not benefit them in any way?
